Israel (H.S. Agency): Israel is ready to attack Gaza city. Soldiers of the Israeli Security Forces (IDF) have reached the outskirts. Israeli officials said yesterday that the army is moving forward with the plan to capture Gaza city. Even after nearly two years of war, the city and its surrounding areas remain a stronghold of the terrorist group Hamas.
The New York Times quoted a senior Israeli military official as saying that soldiers have reached the outskirts of the city. Tents are being set up in southern Gaza for the people who will be displaced after the military operation begins. In the plan, soldiers will forcefully move south through checkpoints to surround the city, free the population from terrorists, and capture Hamas fighters. About 60,000 reserve soldiers have been kept ready to help the soldiers sent to Gaza city. At this time 20,000 soldiers have been ordered to move forward.
This preparation started when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has considered agreeing to Hamas' ceasefire proposal. The families of the hostages in Israel are worried. The families believe that Hamas will kill them in response to the attack. Meanwhile, hard-line right-wing leaders have threatened that they will leave the government if Netanyahu accepts the ceasefire proposal.
Meanwhile, the IDF has confirmed military preparations in Ex Post. The IDF said that the soldiers have taken operational control over more than 75 percent of Gaza. Hamas's command power has been weakened by striking its terrorist infrastructure. The IDF is fully prepared to expand its operation.
According to NBC News Channel, Israel has sent thousands of reserve soldiers to gain full control of Gaza city. The soldiers have started pushing about one million people living on the outskirts of the city towards the south. This comes at a time when some of America's closest allies, including France, the United Kingdom and Canada, have said they may join the more than 145 countries that recognise a Palestinian state.
