Ranchi: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ranchi, organized a door-to-door legal awareness programme at Mahuajari Panchayat Bhawan and Bansjari village as part of its 60-day Mega Legal Awareness Campaign. During the programme, villagers were informed about the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act) and the NALSA Child-Friendly Legal Services Scheme, 2024.

Deputy LADC Rajesh Kumar Sinha said that women must be provided with a safe, respectful and fear-free environment at the workplace. He said the POSH Act, 2013 aims to prevent and prohibit sexual harassment at workplaces and ensure effective redressal of complaints. Women have the right to work with dignity and respect.

Assistant LADC Saurabh Pandey explained the NALSA Child-Friendly Legal Services Scheme, 2024. He said children below 18 years who are in need of legal assistance, victims of offences or in conflict with the law are entitled to free legal aid. Making the justice system accessible and barrier-free for children with disabilities is also a key objective of the scheme.

The DLSA team visited households, listened to villagers’ problems and collected applications related to various government welfare schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, old-age pension, PM-KISAN, livestock sheds, ration cards, irrigation equipment and labour cards. Around 900 villagers were provided information about legal rights and welfare schemes. One family in Bansjari village was also identified for linking with the Sponsorship Scheme.

PLV Suman Thakur informed villagers about the National Lok Adalat scheduled for September 12. The DLSA team also created awareness about child marriage, child labour, dowry, witch-hunting and the Sponsorship Scheme.

The campaign is being conducted under the directions of Jharkhand High Court Judge-cum-Executive Chairman of JHALSA Sujit Narayan Prasad and under the guidance of JHALSA Member Secretary Ranjana Asthana and Judicial Commissioner-cum-Chairman of DLSA, Ranchi, Anil Kumar Mishra.
