Ranchi, September 5: On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, Sanjay Saraff, Vice President of Hindi Sahitya Bharati and State Spokesperson of the Jharkhand Parents Association, said that the Guru has always held the highest place in Indian culture. A teacher is not merely someone who imparts education but also a guide who shapes a student’s personality, character and future.
He said that Teachers’ Day is celebrated across the country on September 5 to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the great educationist, philosopher and second President of India. The tradition of celebrating Teachers’ Day in India began in 1962. Dr. Radhakrishnan was born on September 5, 1888, and held teachers and education in very high regard.
Sanjay Saraff said that teachers impart not only academic knowledge but also develop values such as discipline, morality, self-confidence, human sensitivity and patriotism among students. The progress of any nation depends on the capabilities of its younger generation, and teachers play the most important role in preparing them for the future.
He said that in today’s technology-driven era, the responsibilities of teachers have become even broader. Along with providing modern knowledge and technological awareness, teachers inspire students to distinguish between right and wrong, make thoughtful decisions and become responsible citizens.
Saraff said that whether a person becomes a doctor, engineer, scientist, administrator, soldier, entrepreneur or public representative, the contribution of teachers remains an important part of their journey. Therefore, teachers are rightly called the “builders of the nation’s future.”
He added that Teachers’ Day is not merely an occasion to extend greetings to teachers, but also an opportunity to understand the importance of education and uphold the dignity of the traditional Guru-Shishya relationship. On this occasion, everyone should express respect and gratitude towards their teachers and resolve to follow the values and ideals they have taught.
