Conservation of Nature and the Environment is a Collective Responsibility: Chief Minister Hemant Soren
Ranchi, August 11, 2026: The 77th State-Wide Forest Festival 2026 was organized on Tuesday at the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly premises. Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto and Chief Minister Hemant Soren attended the event. On this occasion, the Chief Minister and the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly planted trees and spread the message of environmental protection.
Addressing the event, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that water, forests, mountains, rivers, and rich natural resources are the hallmarks of Jharkhand. Conservation of nature and the environment is not only the responsibility of the government, but also of every individual in society. He emphasized that merely planting trees is not enough; regular care and protection are also essential.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of maintaining environmental balance during development projects. He said that activities such as deforestation, excessive exploitation of mineral resources, extraction of groundwater, and obstruction of the natural flow of rivers are adversely affecting the environment. Concrete steps must be taken in time to protect future generations from these adverse consequences.
He stressed the need to plant more trees and develop a better action plan to conserve rainwater and infuse it into the soil. The Chief Minister directed the Forest Department to launch a special campaign for the care and conservation of trees.
The Chief Minister also directed the planting of fruit trees in MLA residential complexes. Ministers Radha Krishna Kishore, Hafizul Hasan, Irfan Ansari, Shilpi Neha Tirkey, MLAs, Forest Department officials, and other dignitaries were present at the event.
