Major Police Crackdown on Drug Network in Hindpiri; 6 Arrested, Including a Woman
Drug Racket Operating in 'Bachcha Kabristan' Area Busted; ₹8.74 Lakh in Cash, Brown Sugar, and Ganja Seized
Ranchi: The Ranchi Police have achieved a major breakthrough in exposing an illicit narcotics trade operating in the 'Bachcha Kabristan' (Children's Cemetery) area, located in the Khet Mohalla locality under the Hindpiri police station jurisdiction. Six individuals, including a woman, have been arrested in connection with this operation. During the raid, the police seized brown sugar, ganja (cannabis), a substantial amount of cash, an electronic weighing machine, syringes, and banned tablets. All the accused are being sent to judicial custody.
According to the police, on the evening of May 11, 2026, they received a tip-off that certain individuals were engaged in the large-scale buying and selling of narcotics through a network of agents in the Bachcha Kabristan area of Hindpiri. Acting on this intelligence, and under the directives of the Senior Superintendent of Police, a special raiding team was constituted under the leadership of Nikhil Rai, the Assistant Superintendent of Police (Kotwali).
When the raiding team arrived near the cemetery in Khet Mohalla, several individuals present at the scene fled upon spotting the police. The police team cordoned off the area and apprehended five individuals on the spot. Based on subsequent interrogation and leads provided by the suspects, a raid was conducted at the residence of a woman, resulting in the recovery of ganja, a large sum of cash, and other incriminating evidence.

The police have registered Hindpiri Police Station Case No. 43/26 in connection with this matter and have initiated legal proceedings under various sections of the NDPS Act.
This raid operation involved police teams from Hindpiri, Kotwali, Daily Market, Lower Bazar, and the Women's Police Station, along with personnel from the armed forces.
