Following Jail Superintendent Kumar Chandrashekhar, Now Serious Allegations of Sexual Exploitation Leveled Against Jailer Lavkush Kumar
Ranchi: Serious questions have been raised regarding the state's prison administration following a letter written by Babulal Marandi to Chief Minister Hemant Soren. In the ongoing controversy surrounding the Birsa Munda Central Jail, Hotwar—and following earlier allegations against Jail Superintendent Kumar Chandrashekhar—serious charges of the exploitation of women and abuse of power have now been leveled against Jailer Lavkush Kumar as well.
The letter alleges that Jailer Lavkush Kumar utilized his official position and influence to allegedly subject a female Home Guard to mental and physical harassment. It is further alleged that when the woman's family raised objections, they were subjected to threats and undue pressure.
Marandi also alleged that during his tenure at the Chatra Jail, attempts were made to suppress complaints related to cases of harassment against women. The letter states that the victim's family appealed for justice at multiple levels, yet no action was taken.
The former Chief Minister has demanded a high-level, independent inquiry into the entire matter, as well as strict action against the accused officials. The emergence of this letter has intensified discussions within political and administrative circles.
