154 Candidates Granted Bail in Excise Constable Recruitment Exam Paper Leak Case

Candidates currently lodged in jail in connection with the Excise Constable recruitment exam paper leak case have received significant relief. On Friday, the court of Additional Judicial Commissioner Yogesh Kumar, situated at the Ranchi Civil Court, granted regular bail to 154 accused candidates after accepting their bail petitions.
The individuals granted bail include seven female candidates. The court has directed all the accused to furnish two sureties each, amounting to ₹20,000. Additionally, a condition has been stipulated requiring that one of the two sureties must be a family member.
All the accused were arrested by the Tamar police on April 12. Following their production in court on April 13, they were remanded to judicial custody and sent to jail. They had remained incarcerated since that time.
A total of 83 separate bail petitions were filed on behalf of the accused. Of these, 78 petitions have been disposed of, while the next date of hearing for the remaining four petitions has been scheduled for May 16.
Notably, this case pertains to an alleged paper leak racket operating out of an under-construction nursing college located in Radgaon, within the jurisdiction of the Tamar police station. Police raids revealed that, prior to the examination, candidates were being made to memorize the answers to the questions in exchange for substantial sums of money.
The agencies investigating the case are currently engaged in unearthing every link within the entire network. The investigating officer recently submitted a case diary, comprising over 500 pages, to the court.
