Dr. Abhishek K. Ramadhin Hails Union Budget, Says It Will Strengthen Healthcare Sector
Ranchi: Reacting to the Union Budget, Dr. Abhishek K. Ramadhin, Vice President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), said that the budget presents a balanced, forward-looking and people-centric approach towards the health and pharmaceutical sectors. He noted that the government has given equal importance to research, treatment and public health.
Dr. Ramadhin welcomed the announcement of setting up 1,000 new research centres, calling it a major boost to medical research and a strong step towards positioning India as a global pharma hub. He said this would encourage innovation and strengthen indigenous drug development.
He also described the decision to make medicines for cancer, diabetes and seven rare diseases more affordable as a big relief for common patients, as it would significantly reduce the financial burden of treatment.
Highlighting mental health, Dr. Ramadhin appreciated the expansion of mental health services, strengthening of the Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP) in Ranchi, and the establishment of three new All India Ayurvedic institutes. He said the budget lays a strong foundation for a comprehensive and inclusive healthcare system in India.
