Demand to Prioritise Transport Sector in Pre-Budget Meeting

Ranchi, 16 January 2026: On the second day of the pre-budget meeting held at Project Bhawan by the Finance Department, Government of Jharkhand, former President of the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Kishor Mantri, urged the government to give priority to the transport and logistics sector in Budget 2026–27. He suggested a tax settlement scheme, reforms in the penalty system, single-window online permits, incentives for scrapping old vehicles, subsidies for e-buses and e-trucks, automated fitness centres, modern bus terminals, and increased budget for road safety measures. He said prioritising this sector will boost employment, increase revenue, and provide affordable and safe transport services to the public.
