Jharkhand/Ranchi(M Bharat 24 News Live): BJP State President and Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Hemant Soren, demanding that he show the courage to order a high-level investigation into the entire tenure of former “illegal” DGP Anurag Gupta.
Marandi said, “Chief Minister Hemant Soren ji, Jharkhand has never seen a more corrupt DGP than Anurag Gupta. The video circulating on social media is not from an opposition leader, but from a former Congress minister — a partner in your government — who had exposed Gupta’s corruption long before his removal.”
He added that when even leaders from the ruling coalition accuse an officer of serious corruption, it is easy to imagine the extent of wrongdoing committed under his watch. Marandi alleged that the Chief Minister had “blessed” the so-called illegal DGP, who has now turned into a “Bhasmasur” (a mythical demon who destroys his own master), plotting against the very government that protected him.
Marandi said, “You may have escaped for now, but the people are not satisfied with your action. It seems you have adopted the formula of killing the snake without breaking the stick.”
He continued, “I raised my voice against this illegal DGP in the Assembly and on the streets. The matter even reached the court, but you remained adamant and did nothing. Now that the same man you nurtured has started digging your political grave, you have finally woken up.”
Urging the Chief Minister to act decisively, Marandi said, “If you still care about the dignity and credibility of your office, order a fair and transparent investigation into Anurag Gupta’s tenure. That’s what the people of Jharkhand want from you.”
Marandi further remarked that while Jharkhand’s bureaucracy includes many honest officers, it is also true that several IAS officers have been jailed for corruption — but not a single corrupt IPS or police officer has faced similar action. “If a proper investigation is conducted,” he said, “it will expose the astonishing level of corruption within the police department as well.”
Concluding his statement, Marandi warned, “Chief Minister, show some courage. Order an inquiry. Otherwise, remember my words — there are still many such people around you who will continue to intimidate and eventually blackmail you.”
