Talha Khan, the accused jailed in the army land fraud case, got bail, got the benefit of section 479

 

Ranchi: The PMLA court of Ranchi has granted bail to Talha Khan, the accused jailed for the 4.55 acre army land scam in Bariatu Mauja. This bail has been granted under section 479 of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS). This section applies to those accused who are in jail and he is accused in only one case. He has spent one-third of the maximum sentence in jail under that section.

   Talha Khan was arrested by the ED on 14 April 2023 in the said case. Since then he is in jail. That is, he has spent more than two years and four months in jail continuously in the case. The maximum sentence in the PMLA Act is seven years. According to this, he became entitled to bail. A petition was filed on his behalf on Monday itself. On which the court granted bail after hearing. In this case, there are 10 accused including former Ranchi DC Chhavi Ranjan and Kolkata businessman Amit Agarwal.
