Land subsidence on Ranchi-Patratu road, smoke coming out, traffic closed

 

Ranchi: The road of CCL's Saunda D project is sinking. A large part of the road near Saunda D (Bhurkunda Sayal) on the Ranchi-Patratu main road has collapsed, due to which the traffic has come to a complete standstill. Continuous rain is being considered the immediate cause of this land subsidence. But local people say that this problem has arisen due to excessive mining of coal in the area.

    After the recent heavy rains, about half of the road near Saunda D on Ranchi-Patratu road sank into the ground. Seeing the seriousness of the situation, the CCL management has closed the main road with immediate effect. 'To avoid any possible accident, the sunken area has been marked by fencing it with bricks and stones. The shocking thing is that smoke is continuously coming out from around the sunken site, which strengthens the possibility of underground fire. This fire may be caused by combustion in underground coal mines.
