No relief for accused Yogendra Ganjhu linked to Naxal organization; court rejects bail plea

Arrested with an illegal weapon; court cites serious charges and 11 criminal cases as grounds for denying bail

Ranchi: Yogendra Ganjhu, an accused currently in jail for alleged links to a banned Naxal organization and possession of an illegal weapon, has failed to secure relief from the court. The court of Kuldeep, Additional Judicial Commissioner-18 and Special Judge (CID/ATS), rejected his bail application.

Yogendra Ganjhu has been in judicial custody since July 14, 2025. He is facing prosecution under Sections 25(1-b)(a), 26, and 35 of the Arms Act, and Section 17 of the CLA Act, in connection with McCluskieganj Police Station Case No. 17/2025. Out of the nine witnesses cited in the charge sheet, the testimony of four has been completed so far.

According to the prosecution, four suspects were arrested during a raid near Bangla Chatti River on July 14, 2025, acting on a tip-off. A country-made pistol and three live cartridges were recovered from Yogendra Ganjhu. The investigation also revealed that the accused was involved in a conspiracy to extort levies from businessmen and brick-kiln operators on behalf of the banned Naxal organization.

In its order, the court noted that 11 criminal cases are registered against the accused and that, prima facie, he appears to be an active member of the banned Naxal organization. Furthermore, his previous bail application had already been rejected on January 22, 2026.

Considering the serious charges, the recovery of the illegal weapon, and the progress of the trial, the court observed that there were no grounds to grant bail to the accused at this stage. Consequently, his bail application was rejected.
