Ranchi: The 7th meeting of the State Level Monitoring and Implementation Committee constituted under the National Green Air Programme was held on Monday at Nepal House under the chairmanship of Abu Bakar Siddiq, Secretary, Department of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Government of Jharkhand. The meeting was attended by Aditya Malhotra, President of the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI), and Mukesh Kumar, Chairman of the sub-committee.
During the meeting, the Action Taken Report of the previous meeting was presented. Detailed discussions were held on recommendations related to the release and utilization of grants to be received from the Central Pollution Control Board for the financial year 2025–26. FJCCI President Aditya Malhotra emphasized the need for timely and effective utilization of the central grant.
Highlighting the importance of promoting electric vehicles in the state, he suggested that in the initial phase, electric vehicles should be introduced in government offices and school buses. He also stressed the need to establish adequate charging stations at major locations.
The meeting also reviewed the Air Quality Index of Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Dhanbad. It was noted that, at present, the air quality in cities other than Dhanbad is relatively better.
In addition, important issues such as green buildings, green steel, car scrapping processes and e-waste management were discussed. In this regard, the departmental secretary agreed to hold a separate meeting with the Chamber for detailed discussions and to seek suggestions on these key issues.
The meeting was also attended by SUDAs Chairman Suraj Kumar, senior officials from the Transport Department and officers of the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board.
