Thousands of people from the four blocks of Ghatsila, Musabani, Dhalbhumgarh, and Gudabandha attended the event. The primary aim of the convention was to promote unity, rights, and respect within the community.
Speaking as the chief guest, Potka MLA Sanjeev Sardar urged the Bhumiya community to organize and protect their rights and dignity. He highlighted that while members of the community are spread across Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and Assam, the lack of unity has prevented them from channeling their strength effectively. He emphasized that the time has come to unite and chart the community's future together.
The MLA also referred to the untimely demise of former minister Ramdas Soren, saying that the upcoming Ghatsila by-election would be a significant test of the community’s unity. He noted that the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) had honored the Bhumiya community by giving him a ticket in the previous election, making him the only current MLA from the community in the country, a matter of pride for the Bhumiya society.
On the occasion, Sunil Singh Sardar, president of the Bhumiya tribal community, praised Sanjeev Sardar as a source of pride for the community, acknowledging his efforts to raise the community’s voice at every level. He stated that the Bhumiya community stands firmly behind JMM and Somesh Soren in the Ghatsila by-election.
The convention was attended by several prominent community members including Pritam Singh, Jhantu Singh, Kaliram Singh Bhumiya, Shubhankar Singh Bhumiya, Tushar Kant Sardar, Pradeep Singh, Kartik Singh, Sukumar Singh, Amar Singh Sardar, along with thousands of other community members.
