Jharkhand/Ranchi: Due to the negligence of the School of Mass Communication, a vocational department at Ranchi University, many students are still deprived of scholarship funds. In a document sent to the Welfare Department on July 29, 2025, the department listed itself as a regular department, even though the department falls under the vocational category.
When the Welfare Department investigated and asked why the department was listed as regular in the records, despite it being a vocational department, the department's director, Dr. Basant Jha, admitted his mistake. Subsequently, the students themselves ran around, had the documents corrected, and submitted a new letter to the Welfare Department. Despite this, due to the initial negligence and delay, scholarship funds were released to students from other departments.
Now, the department is short of funds, and hundreds of needy students are waiting for their funds. Affected students, speaking on condition of anonymity, say there is no one to listen to their complaints. Both the department and the state government are ignoring their problems. Students allege that the department is playing with their future.
This negligence has not only increased the financial burden on students' education but has also created significant problems for needy students who rely on scholarships. For now, students are hoping that the government and the university will find a solution soon.
