Another wild elephant dies in Seraikela, forest department engaged in investigation
Seraikela: A wild elephant died under suspicious circumstances on Tuesday night in Haven village of Neemdih police station area of Kharsawan district. When the villagers went to the fields on Wednesday morning, they found an elephant dead there. This information was immediately given to the village representatives, police and forest department. As soon as the information was received, the forest department team reached the spot and investigation has been started.
At present, the cause of the elephant's death has not been revealed. The forest department team has called veterinary experts, who are engaged in finding out the real cause of death by examining the elephant's carcass. Forest department officials said that 3 wild elephants were seen in the Haven area, out of which one has died. The remaining 2 elephants are being monitored.
It is worth noting that a wild elephant also died in the same area on June 5. A tusker elephant separated from the herd in Amdabeda village died. The continuous deaths of elephants have raised questions on the functioning and safety measures of the forest department. The forest department says that the causes of the elephant deaths are being thoroughly investigated and no negligence will be tolerated. The death of protected wild animals like elephants is becoming a matter of concern for the environment.
