Ranchi, October 28, 2026: In view of the possibility of strong winds and heavy rainfall in Ranchi on October 28 and 29 due to Cyclone ‘Arnab’, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation has stepped up its preparedness. A review meeting was held on October 27 under the chairmanship of Municipal Commissioner Sushant Gaurav. Officials were directed to remain on 24-hour alert for the next three days. Four zones have been created to ensure rapid response across all 53 wards, with two Quick Response Teams (QRTs) deployed in each zone.

The Municipal Corporation has directed officials to closely monitor low-lying areas prone to waterlogging, weak and leaning trees, and water levels in rivers and major drains. Special drain-cleaning operations and proper drainage arrangements have also been ordered. Equipment such as JCB machines, super sucker machines, skid loaders and motor pumps will be kept ready. Horticulture and sanitation teams will work in three shifts, with special night patrols to ensure immediate action in cases of waterlogging, fallen trees and other emergencies.

The Ranchi Municipal Corporation’s control room will remain operational 24 hours a day for the next three days. Residents have been advised to remain cautious in low-lying and waterlogging-prone areas, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay away from trees, electric poles, rivers and drains during strong winds and heavy rainfall. In case of an emergency, citizens can contact the Municipal Corporation’s toll-free helpline at 1800-570-1235. The Corporation has appealed to residents to follow weather advisories and cooperate with the administration.
