📰 Elevated Corridor's Service Road Crumbles Within Just One Year; Commuters Risk Their Lives
📍 Ranchi | Piska More–Gumla Route
The service road constructed beneath the elevated corridor on the Piska More–Gumla route has begun to crumble even before completing one year of existence. The road surface has peeled off in several places, significantly increasing the risk of daily accidents and forcing commuters to travel while putting their lives in jeopardy.
Amit Kumar, a local shopkeeper, recounted an incident from just the previous day in which a scooter rider lost his balance due to the damaged road and fell. Fortunately, no speeding vehicles were in the vicinity at the time; otherwise, a major tragedy could have occurred.
Locals state that the condition of the road is continuously deteriorating, yet no permanent solution has been implemented thus far. Residents have also raised serious questions regarding the quality of the construction work.
Regarding this matter, *M Bharat 24 News Live* spoke with the Project Director (PD) of the NHAI, Vijay Kumar. He stated, "The service road will be repaired within two to three days."
However, the pertinent question remains: why has a road constructed at a cost of crores of rupees begun to fall apart within just one year? Local residents have demanded an investigation into the quality of the road construction, along with immediate repairs.
