CBI arrests postal assistant in Jharkhand for accepting bribe red-handed
New Delhi, November 13.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a postal assistant in the Seraikela sub-division of Jharkhand after he was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
According to the CBI, a case was registered on November 11 following a complaint that the accused postal assistant had demanded Rs 20,000 from the complainant. The bribe was sought in exchange for allowing the complainant to assume charge as a Gramin Dak Sevak, Assistant Branch Postmaster (GDS ABPM) under the Kamlapur Branch Post Office.
The CBI team laid a trap and apprehended the accused while he was accepting the bribe. The arrested postal assistant has been identified as Ranjan, posted in the Seraikela sub-division of Jharkhand.
The agency said that the investigation is ongoing.
