Hospital Director and renowned Laparoscopic & Gastro Surgeon Dr. Shahbaz Alam along with Gynecologist Dr. Neha Ali informed the media that the patient, a resident of Latehar, was about eight and a half months pregnant. During examination, it was found that a large tumor had developed in her uterus. The woman was also suffering from liver disease and diabetes, which made the case extremely complicated.
According to Dr. Neha Ali, the situation was highly critical, but with precise surgical planning and teamwork, the doctors first conducted a safe cesarean section to deliver the baby and then successfully removed the tumor from the uterus. She confirmed that both the mother and the newborn are now healthy and stable.
Dr. Shahbaz Alam stated that such complex surgeries are usually performed only in major metropolitan hospitals, but Hopewell Hospital accomplished it at a much more affordable cost with advanced medical facilities. He added that the hospital has successfully handled several other complicated surgeries in the past as well.
During the press briefing, Dr. Neha Ali advised pregnant women to undergo regular antenatal checkups (ANC) under the supervision of specialist doctors. Dr. Shahbaz Alam also emphasized maintaining a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle to prevent such severe medical conditions.
