Youth Murdered by Friend Over ₹2.5 Lakh Loan and Threats; Weapons Recovered from Hazaribagh

Ranchi: Budhmu Police Station in Ranchi has successfully cracked a blind murder case within 48 hours, arresting four criminals involved in the murder. The police recovered the weapons used in the crime, live ammunition, and the motorcycle used by the accused.

The Incident

On December 30, 2025, Budhmu Police Station received a written application from Mohd. Ekram (Village Haphua, Patratu). The application stated that his nephew, Piyush alias Ibrar Ansari, had been shot dead by unknown criminals, and the body was dumped near the railway track on the Saridah Karamboha river railway bridge. Budhmu P.S. Case No. 82/25 was registered in this regard.

Swift Action and Arrests

Given the seriousness of the case, a special team was formed under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police, Rural Ranchi, and the leadership of the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Khalari, as per the directives of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Ranchi. The police team began intensive investigation based on technical and other intelligence inputs.

Based on information received on January 02, 2026, the raiding team conducted a search operation in the village of Chhapar Barwatoli and arrested the main accused, Sameer Ansari and Sahil Tudu.

Debt Became the Motive

During the interrogation of the arrested criminals, the main accused, Sameer Ansari, confessed to the crime. He revealed that he had taken ₹2.5 lakh from the deceased, Piyush alias Ibrar Ansari, about six months ago. The deceased was repeatedly demanding the money back and threatening dire consequences if he did not repay it. Due to this, Sameer Ansari, along with his friends Sahil Tudu and Ram Murmu, shot Piyush dead and threw his body near the railway track.

Weapons and Other Accused Apprehended

Following the confessions of the arrested accused, the police team also arrested the third accused, Ram Murmu. They disclosed that the weapons and ammunition used in the murder were hidden at the house of Naresh Marandi in Pachanda village, Barkagaon police station area, Hazaribagh district.

The police team immediately raided Naresh Marandi's house and arrested him as well. From Naresh Marandi's house, they recovered a country-made pistol with a magazine, one country-made gun (Katta), a total of nine (9) live rounds of 7.56 and 315 bore, and five mobile phones. Additionally, the Apache motorcycle (Reg. No. JH-01 BN-3743) used in the crime was also seized.

The team, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Khalari, Ram Narayan Choudhary, included Police Inspector Jai Prakash Rana (Mandar Circle) and Budhmu P.S. Sub-Inspectors Sanjeev Kumar, Prabhash Kumar Rawani, Asst. Sub-Inspector Ran Vijay Singh, and Amrit Mehta.
