One inspector should be posted in all districts: Pramod Saraswat

Ranchi: A meeting of the Labor Sub-Committee was held in the Chamber Bhawan on the continuous complaints of difficulties in license renewal and verification of measuring instruments due to a huge shortage of measurement officers in the state. In this meeting, it was said that only four inspectors are in charge in the department and one departmental inspector has additional charge of many districts, due to which renewal-verification work is getting affected. Due to the unavailability and shortage of departmental inspectors, traders have to suffer unnecessary fines in the verification of measurement, which requires departmental review.

Chairman of Labor Sub-Committee Pramod Saraswat said that for the convenience of traders, it is necessary to post one inspector in each district of the state so that traders can get their measurement license verified/renewed as per their convenience. Till the time an inspector is not posted in the department, traders should not be fined for verification work. He also suggested that till the posting of departmental inspectors, contact details of inspectors and boards of their availability days should be installed outside the departmental offices of all the districts of the state so that the traders of the concerned district can get proper information about it. Due to lack of information, traders are facing unnecessary difficulties.

Seeing the inconvenience of the traders, Chamber's Joint Secretary Navjot Alang also asked the department to organize quarterly measurement camps in every district of the state. It was said that the problem can be solved to a large extent by making the renewal period of measurement license five years. Treasurer Rohit Agarwal said that the department should also take initiative to organize awareness workshops from time to time for verification and renewal of equipment. In the course of discussions, it was agreed to meet the Labor Secretary and Controller of Measurement soon, apprise them of the matter and take action.

Chamber's Joint Secretary Navjot Alang, Treasurer Rohit Agarwal, Executive Member Amit Sharma, Labor Sub-Committee Chairman Pramod Saraswat, Member Amarchand Begani, Kishan Agarwal were present on the occasion. The above information was given by spokesperson Sunil Sarawagi.
